2016 Chamber Community Awards

The Forsyth-Monroe County Chamber of Commerce will be presenting its Community Awards at the 2016 Annual Meeting held on January 27, 2017. These community awards include: Citizen of the Year, Customer Service Award, Golden Nail Award, Small Business of the Year, and Volunteer of the Year.
 

Citizen of the Year

OBJECTIVE
To recognize a Monroe County Citizen who exemplifies good citizenship through civic activities, business involvement, a contribution to the community, and general leadership.
CRITERIA
– A Monroe County resident.
– Meets all of the objectives.
– Leadership should be recognized and service involvement performed during the nomination calendar year, but may be a result of cumulative activities.
– Nominations shall not be precluded from consideration based on their political affiliation, activity, candidacy or incumbency, providing that candidates are not selected during the sixty days preceding a general election.

Customer Service Award

OBJECTIVE
To recognize a front-line employee in the hospitality industry who exceeds normal expectations and requirements to provide excellent service to Forsyth and Monroe County visitors and residents. These individual employees represent their employers and Monroe County as ambassadors of outstanding service.
CRITERIA
– Front-line employee
– Employed in the Hospitality Industry

Golden Nail Award

OBJECTIVE
To recognize businesses and organizations whose efforts in design, restoration, renovation and beautification enhance and improve the community in general and the commercial areas in particular.
CRITERIA
– Must be a legal business in Monroe County
– For new construction, the applicant must be the owner, partner or major shareholder of the business
– For renovations, the applicant must be the developer or owner that makes the investment in the building that already exists
– All improvements must meet necessary city or county code requirements
– Improvements must have been completed within the awards calendar year
– Businesses of Chamber Board of Directors will not be eligible for consideration
– Businesses must have been a member of the Forsyth-Monroe County Chamber of Commerce for at least 1-years.

Volunteer of the Year

OBJECTIVE
To recognize a Chamber member who exemplifies good citizenship through volunteer work at the Chamber and in the community.
CRITERIA
– A member in good standing with the Forsyth-Monroe County Chamber of Commerce.
– An individual whose volunteer activities benefit the Chamber and the community in a substantial, important or unique way.
– Nominee’s volunteer activity must have occurred during the award year, 2016.

Ambassador of the Year

OBJECTIVE
To recognize any person or organization whose efforts have made the Chamber a more prosperous organization, fostered membership growth and /or improved membership services.
CRITERIA
– A member in good standing with the Forsyth-Monroe County Chamber of Commerce.
– An individual who well represented the Chamber by attending and actively participating in meetings, ribbon cuttings, fundraiser assistance, recruiting, etc. or by their representation of Forsyth and Monroe County at other area/regional/state or national meetings, competitions, etc.
– The Candidate should have a fairly consistent “track record” for accomplishment, rather than being honored for a single brief act of merit.
A “true” Ambassador is an advocate of the Chamber in their everyday functions. There could be exceptions that are truly outstanding.
– Nominee’s activities must have occurred during the award year, 2016.
