Monroe County Historical Society Presents an Evening with Author & Photographer Ed Williams

The Monroe County Historical Society will welcome Ed Williams for a special public program on Monday, September 14, 2026, at 7 PM in the Conley Building at 126 E Johnston St, Forsyth. The event is free and open to all. A fifth generation Monroe County native, Williams grew up in Juliette, attended school in Forsyth, and played football at Mary Persons. He later earned his BBA and MBA from Georgia College & State University and went on to become a widely recognized storyteller. His first book, Sex, Dead Dogs, and Me: The Juliette Journals, launched a seven year speaking and book signing tour across the Southeast and earned him two appearances on GPB’s Cover to Cover. His first two books are now in the Library of Congress, his third in Library and Archives Canada, and all three in UGA’s Hargrett Special Collections Library. Williams recently donated two unpublished manuscripts and 274 “Free Wheelin’” columns to the Monroe County Historical Society—materials available exclusively through our archives. Today, Williams is an accomplished fine art photographer, with work featured by AAA.com, Canon, the CDC, Forbes, People.com, TripAdvisor, and more. He is active on the international photography site 1x.com, where he has published seven images and earned a curator award for his Providence Canyon work. He is also collaborating with the Historical Society to photograph Juliette for a future exhibit.
